Description

The Foundation and Intermediate courses provide training in the key concepts and skills of Family and Systemic Psychotherapy. Both courses are accredited by the UK Association for Family Therapy (AFT). 

Participants are expected to apply the learning from the course within their work setting throughout the duration of the programme. 

A satellite Intermediate course is also available in Southampton. 

The training includes:

  • An overview of different theoretical models used for working with families, couples, other significant relationships and individuals 
  • Tools and techniques used for working with families, couples, other significant relationships and individuals 
  • Development of systemic practice skills 
  • Clear learning outcomes in line with AFT Guidelines 
  • Opportunities to consult on practice examples from your workplace 

Opportunities for systemic practice with families/couples during the course are essential.

Pre-requisites

Students on the Intermediate level of training require 10 hours of supervision with a systemic psychotherapist during the course. 

  • For entry onto the Foundation course a core professional health, social care, education, or equivalent is required 
  • Entry onto the Intermediate course requires completion of an AFT accredited Foundation Course
