Description
This course provides training in Paediatric Basic Life Support. It covers all the items within the BLS course but focuses on those working with Paediatrics.
Objectives:
- To understand the principals of initial assessment.
- To manage a cardiac arrest of a child using basic methods by means of external chest, compressions and external rescue breaths along with the use of a pocket mask until further emergency helps arrives
- To learn how to manage a choking casualty
- To be able to place someone in the recovery position
- To be able to provide competent basic life support skills on a child
- To be able to recognise and use appropriate basic resuscitation equipment

The course will be held face-to-face at either Farnham Road Hospital (FRH) or Two Bridges (TB).
For SABP staff, follow this link to book onto the course via ESR. The course is held over two back-to-back sessions, each lasting 1.5 hours. When booking via ESR, ensure you book both session 1 and session 2.
