Our offer to you

In addition to great career prospects and job satisfaction, a career with Surrey and Borders Partnership offers a wide range of extra benefits. Below you will find more information on the many benefits we offer.

Our Trust, culture and values

We are the lead NHS provider of mental health, learning disabilities and autism and wellbeing services in Surrey and North East Hampshire and are rated GOOD by the Quality Care Commission (CQC).

Our vision is For a Better Life, aimed at removing inequality caused by poor mental health, learning disability and substance misuse, and other forms of disability, long term conditions and prejudice.

Our team is highly motivated and trained across all ages to offer excellent and responsive prevention, diagnosis, early intervention, treatment and care services.

We provide over 460,000 appointments a year in person, in clinics and hospitals, at home and in care homes, schools and on the phone or online. Our crisis and inpatient services operate 24 hours a day all year round. We take a whole person and whole family approach to keep individuals and communities safe and promote good mental health and wellbeing.

Our focus is on:

  • High quality care
  • Having a valued and inclusive workforce
  • Having strong involvement with people who use our services, their families and carers
  • Making the best use of our resources
  • Working in partnership
  • Being a learning organisation so that we are a beacon for innovation and help our staff to grow

Our buildings

Our Trust has embarked on an exciting programme of redevelopment and investment in our sites, spanning our new hospitals programme, new community hubs and our new purpose built head office in Leatherhead, Surrey, opening in 2023. Many of the new sites are already up and running.

  • DAWN: Disability and Wellness network
  • Women’s network

  • Connect network – supporting colleagues with emotional and psychological needs

You can find out more about our networks on this dedicated page.

Disability confident

We are a Committed Disability Confident employer meaning that we are committed to attracting, recruiting and retaining disabled people and those with health conditions.  The Disability Confident scheme was set up by the government. Employers who sign up commit to the following:

  • inclusive and accessible recruitment
  • communicating vacancies
  • offering an interview to disabled people
  • providing reasonable adjustments
  • supporting existing employees

Mindful employer

We are proud to be a Mindful Employer and we aim to:

  • show a positive and enabling attitude to employees and job applicants with mental health issues. This will include positive statements in local recruitment literature
  • ensure that all staff involved in recruitment and selection are briefed on mental health issues and The Equality Act 2010 and given appropriate interview skills training
  • not make assumptions that a person with a mental health problem will be more vulnerable to workplace stress or take more time off than any other employee or job applicant

Flexible working

We understand the importance of balancing home and work life and that people often have caring responsibilities. Wherever possible, we seek to offer hours and patterns of work that suit your personal circumstances.

Financial benefits (including generous pension)

Generous NHS pension scheme

The NHS Pension Scheme offers the security of a guaranteed income in every year of retirement for all its members, on some of the most generous terms available from a pension scheme. Benefits of the scheme include:

  • A pension contribution from our Trust that is equal to 26.68 percent of your salary
  • Valuable protection for your family, including life assurance and a pension if you are too ill to work
  • Options to increase your benefits and to retire flexibly, to suit your plans for the future
  • An annual increase in pension benefits during your retirement to keep up with the cost of living

High Cost Area Allowance (HCA)

The HCA allowance, also referred to as London Weighting, is a payment made to employees who work in London and the surrounding areas. For many of our employees based in Surrey, they are entitled to an additional 5% increase on their basic salary. This subject to a minimum payment of £1,136 and a maximum payment of £1,915.

Salary sacrifice car scheme

The scheme enables employees to sacrifice a fixed amount of their pre-taxable monthly income in exchange for a brand new car over an agreed term. At the end of the lease agreement, the employee simply returns the vehicle.

Cycle to work scheme

Our cycle scheme allows employees to pay less for a new bike and equipment with a total limit of £4,000. You will pay nothing up front and the cost of the cycle to work bike and equipment package is taken directly from your gross salary. This means you don’t pay tax and National Insurance on the amount of salary you put towards your new bike and equipment.
