We are building a new state of the art mental health inpatient service in Chertsey, Surrey, to transform care for our local population.
Silverwood will be based on the St. Peter’s Hospital campus and will open in Autumn 2024. It will offer four adult inpatient wards providing 64 beds in single ensuite bedrooms. There will be two lounges, a dedicated garden for each ward and a variety of spaces for therapies and activities, including a music room, sensory-type calm rooms, art room, spirituality room, gym and a woodland area for supervised walks.

What happens if I am successful in being offered a position at Silverwood
We will be shortlisting applications every two weeks, and if you meet the essential criteria, you will be invited to an interview. Interviews will take place at regular intervals. Successful candidates will be offered a role and if accepted, pre-employment checks will commence, and then a start date will be agreed and joining instructions provided.
Our new inpatient service will not open before Autumn 2024. If you have secured a position before then you will be temporarily deployed to work in one of our other services such as Farnham Road Hospital in Guildford or in a community setting.
Once you have been offered a position at Silverwood, you will become part of that team from the day you start. We will engage with you during your temporary deployment to prepare you for the opening. You and your colleagues will become champions for the new service, and we will take you through an organisational development programme. We will share with you, and your teams, the vision and aims of the new service and how we want to work with people who use our services and colleagues to meet these aspirations. Our orientation and induction programme will make sure you are familiar with the operating policies and procedures and have received the required training.
Location
Chertsey is part of the London commuter belt in the outermost part of the Greater London Urban Area and is served by Chertsey railway station . Measuring from centre to centre, Chertsey is 29 kilometres (18 mi) from London, 2.5 kilometres (1.6 mi) from Addlestone, and 17.6 kilometres (10.9 mi) from the county town, Guildford. The traditional, yet commercially important town centre is a conservation area, joined by an arcade to a medium-sized supermarket and car park to the south.
The character of this central area is that of a traditional small town with relatively narrow building frontages set hard up against the pavement so that they clearly define the public space. The centre of the town is richly endowed with listed buildings most of which date from the 16th and 17th centuries.
Elevation is generally low at 14m in the Town Centre and 11m on the River Thames at Chertsey Bridge, making it the lowest place in Chertsey. The highest point is on the peak of wooded and inhabited St. Ann's Hill which reaches an elevation of 77m, making it the second-highest point in Runnymede. Across Chertsey bridge, on the Middlesex side of the river is the Thames Path National Trail and Chertsey Lock.

Rail
Chertsey station is on the Chertsey branch line linking the Waterloo to Reading Line to the South West Main Line in Weybridge. All three are currently operated by South Western Railway. Weybridge railway station is timetabled as 11 minutes away and the journey time to London Waterloo varies between 50 minutes to 66 minutes depending on choice of route.
Road
The A320 is a mixed dual and single carriageway road connecting Woking to Staines-upon-Thames via Chertsey which is 3 miles (5 km) south of Staines Bridge. Chertsey is close to J11 of the M25 to two sides of the town (one exit bordering Ottershaw) and gives its name to the intersection of a main SSW motorway, the M3 with the M25 London Orbital Motorway.
