Description

The Data Scientist Degree Apprenticeship focuses on developing sought-after data science skills in the workplace. During the apprenticeship you will study towards gaining a BSc (Hons) Data Science Degree.  

You will learn how to:

• select and develop new techniques for solving complex related problems
• find ways to improve the Trust's processes
• develop new insights from data using data science techniques
• understand the current Trust's problems and proactively show how we can solve these using data led solutions

You will follow pathways across the following clusters:

• Statistics and Data analysis
• Computer Science
• Mathematical Foundations
• Modelling and Systems
• Communication and Visualisation
• Applications and Business Context
• Interdisciplinarity and Integration

Pre-requisites

To apply for this Apprenticeship, you must be employed by the Trust and have a contract that covers you for the duration of the Apprenticeship.  You must also have lived in the UK for 3 years prior to wishing to enrol in order to qualify for Apprenticeship Levy funding.

Either:

1. A levels in Maths (PASS) and two other subjects (PASS), OR
2. Where applicants do not hold a Maths A level qualification, they will be asked to take a Maths test at application stage. The level of the Maths test is at Maths A level.
3. Where applicants have significant experience in this area and have already completed higher level study in a similar subject (e.g. Maths degree), applicants will be asked to provide further details at the application stage if they think they have covered any of the areas on the Modules & Outcomes check list (available on request) e.g. Data Analyst Level 4.
4. In addition to the above, candidates also require GCSE Grade A*-C or 9-4 in English and mathematics or equivalent (Level 2 Functional Skills).
5.  Candidates must be able to present copies of their qualification certificates to the Education Team and to the York St John University Admissions Team.
